2nd Half of Spa Meet Starts Today With Adirondak

Saratoga Race Course

The final 18 days of the 2009 Saratoga meet begins today and on the card is the $150,000 Grade II Adirondak Stakes for two year old fillies to be run at 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track.

The Adirondak has attracted a strong field but more surprising is who is not in the field today. The Steve Asmussen trained Hot Dixie Chick who won the Schuylerville on opening day is not in the field today. Instead, Asmussen sends out Dashing Debbie who broke her maiden in her first attempt in a stakes race at Calder winning that race by more than 10 lengths.

Others of note in the Adirondak are the Ken McPeek trained Beautician who after a strong maiden win at Churchill Downs ran second in the Schuylerville; the D. Wayne Lukas trained Decelerator who was 2 for 2 at Churchill and won the Grade 3 Debutante before running 6th in the Schuylerville; and the Asmussen trained Camille's Appeal who is 2 for 2 after winning the Texas Stallion Stakes at Lone Star Park in her last; there are also three more horses in the field who broke their maiden first time out.
