Summer Bird Wins Travers

Summer Bird raced close to a fast pace set by first Our Edge and then Kensei to about the quarter pole and then powered past on the sloppy track to win the 140th running of the Travers Stakes by 3 1/2 lengths over a late charging Hold Me Back. Quality Road also raced clost to the pace throughout and held on for third. Summer Bird became the 30th Belmont winner the last 59 years to win the Travers.
